Bright Star Round 3 and MORE

I’m heading back to Zebulon, North Carolina this month, playing banjo for my third production of Bright Star. This show has an incredibly special place in my heart, and I’m thrilled to be tackling the banjo book for the second time, after playing it at Candlelight Pavilion in the spring. It’s great to be one of only three people (to my knowledge) in Los Angeles to have played this uniquely challenging banjo part. Steve Martin wrote some tricky stuff! This production is taking place at Fullerton College in Fullerton, CA, with a great cast of students and a mix of pros and students in the band.

Earlier this month I also finished an amazing run of Something Rotten at Musical Theatre West in Long Beach, CA. This was the first production anywhere outside of the Broadway/touring company, and MTW put on a fantastic spectacle. The 11-piece orchestra was cooking and the show had me laughing out loud for the full (too-short) three-week run.

I’ve got one last musical on the calendar for the year, playing guitar for Jesus Christ Superstar at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) next month. It’s been a ton of fun digging into this great guitar score, and I’m excited to play my third show at LACHSA with their super-talented students.

Outside of the realm of musical theatre, I’ll be traveling to New York City just before Christmas to record guitar for Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Whiskey and Rye show. Thrilled to dig back into the playlist of classic rock tunes and put my own spin on some classics with a great band of great friends. I also have a few other recording/live irons in the fire, so stay tuned for more info soon!
