I’ve been beyond busy so far this year, with a ton of awesome gigs and opportunities. This week is Pop Show 40 at John Burroughs high school, their annual 3-hour musical extravaganza. So far this year, I’ve also played bass for Lizzie, a rock musical about Lizzie Borden, and filled in on Scissorhands at the Rockwell, as well as playing Hotel Cafe with Bianca Gisselle and Michelle Vezilj.
Studio Time
Rounding out a fantastic year with a couple of recording sessions and performances these next two weeks! Doing an all-acoustic session with Anthony Lucca for Into Light, a musical short film, then pre-production recording for John Burroughs High School’s Pop Show 40. Oliver Heimach’s “Golden Hour” is out, featuring my playing and I’ve got a new acoustic cover video out with Everjohn Feliciano and Kyra Selman. I’m also playing Disney Night at the Rockwell with Trent Mills and a little Christmas performance at Jen Oundjian’s house.
Too Much Good Stuff!
Bright Star at Musical Theatre West was an unbelievably awesome experience. My first foray into regional theatre was definitely one to remember. Immediately after closing, I hopped a red eye to New York, for a week of rehearsals for Carner and Gregor’s show at the Kennedy Center. From there it was back to LA for John Burroughs High School’s production of Dark of the Moon and Starry, a new musical about the lives of Theo and Vincent Van Gogh, at the Rockwell.
Bright Star at MTW, Burroughs on Broadway
Very excited to be playing guitar for Musical Theatre West’s production of Bright Star in Long Beach, CA. Rehearsals start on that next week, right as I finish my week of rehearsals and shows for John Burroughs High School’s annual Burroughs on Broadway musical revue. Between that, Bright Star, and a couple of other exciting things soon to be announced, I’ve got a lot of music running through my head that I’m looking forward to playing live very soon!
Godspell and more…
After an incredibly fulfilling time in the Mutt House, my end of summer/fall is shaping up to be quite busy as well. In August, I played a last-minute song with the fantastic Domonique Paton at Broadway Sings Disney at the Rockwell, played the University of La Verne’s new student Orientation with the Time Bandits, and will play a show with Oliver Heimach. In September I’m playing three nights of Godspell in three different cities!
Mutt House World Premiere
Pit Gigs, Pit Gigs, and Pit Gigs. Oh My!
Just finished playing in my second of three pit bands this month, as John Burroughs High School’s hilarious production of Midsummer SoCal finished its three show run yesterday. The week before, I played guitar for closing weekend of Celebration Theatre’s production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and the day before I started back with Priscilla I flew back from New York, following an incredibly rewarding week of shows and rehearsals with Selda and Derek. Stay tuned for some new videos as well!
Priscilla at Celebration, Show in NYC, New Video to Share
The John Burroughs High School show choir season comes to a close this month, with one final competition at Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, CA. The day after the competition I fly to New York City for a jam-packed week of rehearsals for a huge Selda and Derek show. I also got to fill in for Celebration Theatre’s hit production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert and put out an acoustic cover video with Everjohn Feliciano.
